Clay Facial Mask

With all the stress of daily life, it's so important to remember to give yourself some time and care in between taking care of everyone else. I love this home facial treatment as a bit of self care that leaves your skin clean, soft and moisturized.

As a busy mom of 4 and business owner,  I don't always find the time to make it to the spa. I try to treat my skin as great as I can with organic and natural products daily, but every now and then it's nice to take the extra steps and do a nice steam and mask.

With a few minutes and a couple of ingredients, you can give yourself a little spa treatment at home. Start with a large pot of pure water brought to a simmer on the stove. Remove the pot, let it cool for about 5 minutes and add one drop of rose, chamomile, eucalyptus or lavender essential oil. Set the kettle on a solid surface where you can comfortably sit with your face about 12" from the pot. Cover your head with a towel, and slowly lower your head over the steam. Be very careful it does not burn, and if it is too hot, remove the towel and try again.

Allow the steam to do its work for 7-10 minutes. When you've had enough, use the towel to pay your skin dry and try this French green clay and raw apple cider vinegar mask.

Clay ????

2 tbsp French green clay
1 tbsp raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar or water

if you are using apple cider vinegar, please test a small spot before you apply to your whole face. If it burns, it may be best for you to stick with plain water or a 50/50 dilution (50% water, 50% vinegar).

mix ingredients in a small jar. Mix well until completely combined. You may add more or less liquid to achieve desired consistency. It should be thick enough to stick to the skin.

Using your fingers, spread the clay into your face, avoiding the eyes. Allow it to dry on your face (about 15 minutes) and rinse well with water. Be sure your skin is thoroughly rinsed.

Apply rose hip seed oil or your favorite facial moisturizer.
