Clay Facial Mask

With a few minutes and a couple of ingredients, you can give yourself a little spa treatment at home. Start with a large pot of pure water brought to a simmer on the stove. Remove the pot, let it cool for about 5 minutes and add one drop of rose, chamomile, eucalyptus or lavender essential oil. Set the kettle on a solid surface where you can comfortably sit with your face about 12" from the pot. Cover your head with a towel, and slowly lower your head over the steam. Be very careful it does not burn, and if it is too hot, remove the towel and try again. Read More

Spring Renewal

I try try to use the energy of the seasons to my benefit when it comes to my health. In the winter, I eat foods that are cooked longer and slower, warming and grounding. There is often a bit higher fat content and my food is prepared with the intention of creating strength and warmth. In the summer, I eat much more raw food, with lots of fresh vegetables like greens, tomatoes and herbs. The intention of my summer cooking is to create a cooling and refreshing effect. Read More

Pinto Bean Hash

One of my favorite things for breakfast is home fries or hash. This recipe is a delicious twist on the traditional version. The red pepper flakes add a touch of heat, the cilantro and lime are refreshing and the pinto beans add a bit. Of protein to balance out the carbs from the potatoes. My husband added a fried egg and some fresh salsa... Read More
